I really liked our brief for this module - a part of TIF (type, image, format). We had to pick a random word from the dictionary, then create a 500 word book. We received a small workshop on binding books which i really enjoyed too, however, because my word was coma i decided to create a concertina style book.

This allowed me to run with the idea of illustrating the lines on a life support machine. When i researched 'coma' i found that it ment many different things; branches on a tree, or the top of a pineapple, something pixelated, and also an interesting story on Berenice, an egyptian woman, whose glorious hair was taken to the heavens so that the whole world could look upon in awe - or so the story goes. Coma Berenice is a constellation, coma meaning hair in greek. i decided to illustrate the different meanings of coma like so:

I believe it was a good concept, with pretty good execution. i could have done better, but i'm fond of it all the same. I came up with the concept quite late into the project, but had loads of fun doing it. I loved doing the research, which was really fascinating!
